Title Tracking Control for Multi-UAV System with Packet Loss and Communication Range Limitation

Summary In the formation flight of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), UAVs need to know each other’s flight status through wireless communication to maintain formation and avoid collisions. However, problems unique to wireless communications include the deterioration of the accuracy of status grasping due to packet loss and the inability to send data to UAVs in distant areas due to communication range. This study assumes a wireless environment where packet loss occurs stochastically in communications between all UAVs and where the communication range is limited. In this environment, we investigate a flight control method that uses past positions, or trajectory, of its preceeding UAV.
