In Digital Signage and Image Sensor-Based Visible
Light Communication, a LED-backlight display (digital signage) is used as a transmitter and a hand-held camera (image sensor) device is used as a receiver. Data signals are embedded on image contents projected by the digital signage that is the transmitter and sent to the receiver by visible light communication. However, there is a problem that embedded data signals may be perceived by people as the degradation of visual quality. In order to solve this problem, we aim to realize a visible light communication system that is difficult to be perceived using the characteristics of human color perception. In this paper, we propose a scheme to embed data in color space considering human color perception, and compare it to the conventional scheme. We use color difference equations to clarify the relationship between visual quality and communication quality from the relationship between the magnitude of change in color perceived by the human eye and the bit error rate of received data signals. |
