Title A feasibility study of optical wireless MIMO systems with high-density arrays

Summary This study considers a high-speed optical wireless communication network in large-scale indoor environment. In order to achieve high-speed communication at practical distance (approx.10m), we introduce optical wireless multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technique. In the previous studies on optical wireless MIMO systems, high data rate has already been realized but only at a short communication range using arrays with relatively large distance between the elements in each array in order to maintain independence of the spatially separated channels. In such systems, however, as the communication distance increases, interference between the channels also increases and the communication quality decreases. This study thus experimentally examines the feasibility of optical wireless MIMO systems with larger communication range with relatively short distance between elements of each array.
