| Summary |
Power lines have been used as a means of data transmission for many years, however they have recently received a wider attention because of their potential uses in the realization of the smart power distribution grid. The great advantage of power lines over other wired communication media is the existence of an almost ubiquitous power line infrastructure.
In our research we have considered another possible use for power line communications (PLC), that is its application in the industrial environment to transfer control signals
to machines through the power wiring and help reduce cabling. Up to now, the influence of errors caused by the noise in narrowband power line environments on the quality of machine control has not been thoroughly studied. In our paper we present a study on the interaction among the characteristic cyclostationary noise in a narrowband power lines, the data rate and the power level of the control signals. As a controlled object we employ a rotary inverted pendulum. |
