Title Performance Improvement of V2I Uplink Transmission on Far Vehicles Using Frequency Scheduling-Based Cooperative V2V Relay Transmission
Authority IEEE Consumer Communications and Networking Conference (CCNC)
Summary Wireless communication in an intelligent transport system (ITS) requires high quality and low latency vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) transmission. However, fading occurs because of vehicle movements and this results in transmission errors, leading to frequent retransmission requests that require long delay times. Furthermore, in suburban areas, the distance between base stations (BSs) and vehicles tends to be long and the quality of wireless transmission degrades. To address this problem, we employ diversity transmission schemes, particularly frequency diversity, because these schemes are effective to increase the throughput. In this paper, we propose a frequency scheduling-based cooperative V2I uplink transmission scheme using vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) side link (SL) communication in LTE-V2X to achieve improvements in far vehicle transmission from a BS, including efficient frequency use. To verify the proposed scheme, we execute traffic simulation in a suburban road model and apply the proposed transmission scheme to several vehicles. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can improve the performance of uplink far-vehicle transmission to the BS compared with conventional schemes.
