| Summary |
Back in 1998, Prof. Masao Nakagawa invented the concept of visible light communications (VLC) that adopts light emitting diodes (LEDs) as a transmitter. Twenty years of research progress make VLC attractive not only to researchers but also to practitioners. We are about to see blooms of VLC products.
Image-sensor communication (ISC) is a form of VLC that uses image-sensor as a reception device. A particular advantage of ISC is an ability to spatially separate light sources. We can use ISC in the outdoor mobile environment.
In this presentation, I will review ISC, its application, and future perspective. Some results from the author vis-a-vis ISC and its application to the automobile are also introduced.
