| Summary |
The purpose of this paper is improvement of the control quality of wireless feedback control systems in terms of channel coding. Packet losses degrade the performance of wireless feedback control systems. The use of channel coding may reduce the packet loss rate. However, its redundancy reduces the packet transmission rate under the same bit rate and thus degrades the control quality. In this paper, we consider a new channel coding scheme which does not reduce the packet transmission rate so as not to degrade the control quality. In order to be able to adjust the code rates while keeping the block length constant, we propose to reduce the total number of bits for signal quatization of state variables considering a correlation among them. The prediction of the state estimation error in the Kalman filter is utilized to allocate the quatization bits for the set of state variables that are transmitted in the next time frame and to adapt the code rates. We show that the proposed scheme improves the control quality without decreasing the packet transmission rate. |
