| Summary |
In order to evaluate the performance of H-infinity control for wireless control systems, this study compares the influence of packet loss and acknowledgment (ACK) in an H-infinity control system designed with packet loss to that in a Linear Quadratic (LQ) control system. In particular, we focus on the effectiveness of ACK. The system with transmission control protocol (TCP) uses ACK to know whether packet is transmitted successfully. In contrast, the system with user datagram protocol (UDP) dose not use ACK signals, so that the system can not know results of packet transmission. Numerical examples show that the LQ control system with TCP achieves better stability and tracking performance than that with UDP. Even if with ACK, performance improvement can not be obtained in the H-infinity control system. The fact that the H-infinity controller has a controller state but the LQ controller does not have it causes the different performance characteristics between the two control systems. From this point of view, we can conclude that the controller with an inadequate controller state can not achieve good performance in wireless control systems with packet loss. |
