| Summary |
Power lines have been used as a means of data transmission for many years, however new uses are being recently thought.
The greatest advantage of power line communications (PLC) over other communication solutions is the existence of a power line infrastructure which enables its use as an alternative when wireless communication or dedicated cabling cannot be used. In this work
we consider the use of power lines to transfer control signals in industrial environments to reduce costs and save resources.
Our feedback control system comprises a LQR controller, a rotary inverted pendulum as its controlled object and a power line
that serves as the feedback loop. The characteristic cyclostationary power line noise is considered and we propose a predictive control
scheme that takes advantage of its low noise instants. To rate the control quality of this system, its ability to keep the pendulum in
an upright position while rotating the arm is evaluated. |
